Helen Buckler, Head of Learning and Development, Assoc CIPD

Helen Buckler is currently Head of Learning and Development for LGH Hotels Management, a hotel management company with a portfolio of 40+ hotels. Helen has worked for the last 25 years in the hospitality industry, operationally at all levels, but focusing the last 15 years in Learning and Development. Helen has broad L&D experience, from learning design and facilitation to senior-level coaching through to Talent Management. In 2021 she won a Springboard Award for Innovation for the work she and her team did on creating a virtual/blended version of a business-critical training course on Crisis Management, during the pandemic. Helen has been involved in co-ordinating the training for over 50 hotel and restaurant/bar new openings and has project managed, as well as getting hands-on, in all areas.

Her most challenging role was being ship-board Training Manager for Royal Caribbean, and while she got to see some amazing places, she certainly learned a lot about resilience and having to be prepared for the unexpected almost every day.

Helen is passionate about ensuring that learning is accessible and inclusive. Having worked in environments with broad skill levels, English as a second language and a variety of neurodiversity, creating diverse blended interventions that are accessible to all is high on her agenda.
